If they said, "Come up to us." If they showed a white flag on a pole. If they all ran out to meet them. If they said, "Go away."

3. When Jonathan and his armor-bearer went to the Philistine outpost, who did he specifically not tell (14:1)?

He did not tell his brothers and sisters. He did not tell his girlfriend. He did not tell his dog. He did not tell his father, Saul.

4. Why was YAHWEH grieved to have made Saul king; what instructions did Saul fail to carry out (15:9)?

Saul refused to eat his veggies when he was asked to. He went into foreiogn lands without asking. He spared Agag, the king, and the best of the cattle and sheep. He would not play with his brothers and sisters nicely.

5. Why were the men of Saul in distress (14:24)?

Saul had bound them under an oath. Just received bad news from home. They were losing the battle. They were tired of fighting.

6. When YAHWEH's spirit left Saul, what replaced it (16:14)?

A remorseful spirit. A hungry spirit. A peaceful spirit. An evil spirit.

7. How did Saul plead his case that he DID obey YAHWEH (15:20-21)?

Saul said he DID obey and brought back Agag and the soldiers took the best to sacrifice to YAHWEH. Saul said the devil made him do it. He claimed someone else gave him different directions. He never plead his case.

8. What did Jonathan do that caused YAHWEH not to answer Saul's question as to whether or not they should go down after the Philistines (14:43)?

He back-talked his Mommy. He ran away from the camp. He tasted a little honey with the end of his staff. He yelled at Saul.

9. Samuel was sent to Jesse of Bethlehem by YAHWEH. Why did he protest going (16:2)?

It was much too far to travel. Saul would hear about it and kill him. He didn't have enough food or water to sustain him. No one was around to cook for him.

10. YAHWEH eventually just plain rejected Saul as king. What was the specific reason (15:23)?

He fought with his brothers. He complained about his Mommy's cooking. Saul didn't want the position any longer. Because Saul rejected the word of YAHWEH.
